FAQ

Questions, answered

Can I use it for free?
Yes. DeepBlocker is free, with no subscriptions and no paid tiers.
Does DeepBlocker collect data?
No. There is no telemetry and no analytics. Filtering and statistics stay on your device, and there are no accounts or cloud sync.
Does it require an account?
No account, no sign-up, and no subscription. Install it and it works.
What browsers are supported?
DeepBlocker is built for Chromium browsers — Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, and Opera. It loads as an unpacked extension via Developer mode.
Can websites break?
Occasionally, stricter modes can hide or block a site feature. If a page misbehaves, switch from Ultra to Strong or Standard, update filters, then reload.
How do I disable protection temporarily?
Open the popup on the page and press the large protection button to pause DeepBlocker. Press it again to resume.
How do I update filters?
Filters update automatically in the background. You can also update them manually on the Filter lists page or from Diagnostics.
Why does DeepBlocker use Manifest V2?
Manifest V2 allows the request-level blocking that makes filtering thorough and reliable. Chromium may show a Manifest V2 notice, which is expected and does not affect protection.
Changelog

What's new

1.4.2Latest
  • Fixed a site-wide header exception silently switching off the security-policy protection that other filters add to pages.
  • Page scripts that filters restrict to part of a site, or to frames embedded by a specific site, now run on the right page or frame instead of on whichever one was opened first.
  • Filter lists are rebuilt once after updating. No interface changes.
1.4.1
  • A filter list is no longer replaced when its server answers with an error message instead of the list, so protection is kept until a valid update arrives.
  • Fixed a request occasionally being matched against outdated filter data right after filter lists were reloaded, which could let tracking parameters through.
  • Fixed the support page failing to finish loading, which left its buttons unresponsive.
  • Reliability release. No interface changes.
1.4.0
  • Fixed the popup shaking or flickering when opened from the toolbar.
  • Hardened filter compilation so an exception rule that excludes a site can no longer become an active rule.
  • Stability and correctness release. No interface changes.
1.3.0
  • More reliable blocking on sites that replace the page's event-listener handling.
  • Removed redundant page instrumentation, so protection touches each page more lightly.
